The Magic of Maternity Photography: What to Expect

Maternity photography holds a special place in my heart. These moments are filled with emotion, transformation, and beauty that are fleeting yet deeply meaningful. Every pregnancy journey is unique, and not every woman feels comfortable being photographed during this time. I completely understand this because I’ve experienced it myself. We all have different stories, and as humans, we often believe our stories mirror those of others. So, let’s listen and celebrate each unique narrative!

Reflecting on my journey, I’m incredibly grateful to have had images captured by my talented friend, Hayley. What made this experience so meaningful wasn’t just the photos but the joy of creating them together. We laughed, played, and avoided clichés and forced poses. It was real, honest, and fun! That’s the experience I wish for every woman who steps in front of my lens.

Sharing Space for Two: The Glow, the Strength, the Vulnerability

Pregnancy is a profound experience. It’s not just about a growing belly. This journey is deeply beautiful, sometimes a bit strange and frightening, but mostly striking and captivating. It involve a wide range of emotions, from strength to vulnerability. Capturing the poetry of the maternity chapter is something very special. I don’t follow trends or chase picture-perfect shots. I photograph to feel, creating natural images with depth, honesty, and beauty, whether we’re in your home, by a creek, or at any location that feels most authentic to you. As a French fashion photographer, I also enjoy incorporating a fashion editorial style into my images.

Your Space, Your Story

The location of a maternity shoot can significantly influence the overall experience. Choose spaces that hold personal significance for you, such as your home, where you feel safe and can relax, a favourite spot, or a tranquil natural setting that brings you joy. The setting doesn’t have to be extravagant, it simply needs to resonate with you. This could be a corner of your garden, a well-lit room, or a window. Pick a location where you know you’ll feel most comfortable.

Alone or with Your Partner

This is a very personal choice that we can discuss and organise together. You can start the photoshoot on your own and then have your partner join you at the end for a few couple shots, or you may choose to be together throughout the entire session. Each couple is unique, so whatever feels comfortable for you, we can work with it!

What to Wear? Be You.

The best photos happen when you feel like yourself. Whether you’re a jeans-and-tee person or prefer flowing fabrics, it’s all about what makes you feel beautiful and empowered because you are. Every woman is.

A maternity shoot isn’t just about posing with hands on the bump; it’s about emotion, connection, and celebrating the life growing inside you.

Welcoming the Newborn Chapter

Newborn sessions are a continuation of the love and magic we capture during your pregnancy. These are quiet, tender moments: cries, snuggles, nappy changes, sleepy eyes, feeding, and tiny hands that pass too quickly! Capturing them is about preserving a feeling, not just an image.

One Story, Two Chapters

Whether we begin with your maternity session or connect after your baby is born, the experience is designed to feel heartfelt and personal. Capturing both maternity and newborn moments is an option if you feel ready!

I am here to capture the extraordinary story that belongs to you, Your Story!
