A CLASSIC CITY CEREMONY BEFORE HEADING TO THE
FORESHOREÂ | ST KILDA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
It was such a delight to document Maree and Mark’s Melbourne wedding day. Both the bride and groom opted to get ready in family homes surrounded by their loved ones (which we think is pretty special) before heading to their classic church ceremony. We then skipped off for a steamy portrait session in stunning Fitzroy Conservatory Gardens and squeezed in one last shoot as the sunset over the St Kilda foreshore (how could we resist, the light was perfect!). The love these two hold for one another was utterly palpable. Their portrait sessions were unstructured, fun and involved passionate embraces, barefoot beach running and a whole lot of love. Taking a bad photo of these two beautiful people was truly difficult. Not only were these love birds stunning but they were as kind as they were generous.

A MODERN CITY WEDDING
Melbourne is fast becoming a popular choice for many couples who want to have a modern city wedding. With so many breathtaking views, exciting venues, diverse backdrops for perfect wedding pictures, endless transport and accommodation opportunities for the guests, it’s clear to see why so many couples are looking at the city center for their wedding.
City weddings are sophisticated, stylish, elegant, and promise the best of the best – but to plan a modern city wedding, especially in a big city like Melbourne, can also be very challenging and time-consuming at times, especially for the inexperienced. Here are 3 helpful tips from the industry experts to help you plan a modern city wedding in style:
Find the Venue | Modern City Wedding
Finding a perfect city venue for your wedding should be the first step in your wedding planning process. The good news is that the city offers several options to suit any budget and style. You can choose a mansion or a private club, 5-star hotel, art gallery, beautiful rooftop, or a restaurant to tie the knot. There are many places in the city that offer full-service wedding plans that include everything from the decorations to a full bar. Couples, who want a DIY wedding, can do so, but there is much more botheration and planning involved. You need to keep in mind that a huge portion of your wedding budget will be eaten up by the wedding venue and style you choose, so you need to select your wedding venue keeping in mind your budget.
The last and possibly the most important tip for booking a wedding venue in a big city like Melbourne is to start your search as early as possible. Competition in big cities like Melbourne is cutthroat, and popular wedding venues get booked extremely fast, so if you fail to take advantage of the opportunity to secure your dream wedding venue, you could lose out on it forever.
Find the Vendors
Like popular wedding venues; popular wedding photographers, DJs, caterers, videographers, makeup artists, and event managers in Melbourne also get booked way in advance. Your best bet is to start early and book your favorite vendors at least 2-3 months in advance.
Find the Designers
There is no shortage of skilled designers in Australia and luckily most of them live and work in Melbourne. The best part of a modern city wedding is that you are able to find the designer of your liking and talk to him/her face-to-face. This means, if you have a specific wedding dress idea in your mind, chances are you will be able to wear it on your wedding day.
